Our Scandinavian Salves have always been a great compliment our Nørdik line. The salves are especially healing to the skin, particularly in the cold winter months. We formulate the salves to be extremely healing to the skin, especially for dry elbows and feet.

This is our line of premium Scandinavian derived organic bath and body products. They were formulated using mostly sourced Scandinavian ingredients. They were all given product names of Nordic origins. They contain pure therapeutic grade essential oils (most are organic). Our Nørdik Scandinavian Salves were formulated using old Swedish formulas to create the base of our Scandinavian Salves. We add a synergistic blend of organic essential oils that match the Bar Soaps and the Hand and Body Moisturizers bearing the same name. We are very proud of this line offering as Mike's grandparents emigrated from Scandinavia; his grandfather from Finland and his grandmother from Sweden. Our Scandinavian Salves are packaged in a silver metal tin with a screw cap and a round label attached.

Our base oil is used at a very high percentage of the mix. This beautiful oil is from the olive fruit using cold press extraction and decanting methods. Extremely beneficial for the skin, olive oil contains high levels of vitamins A & E, oleic acid and antioxidants. It also makes a great carrier oil for use with any essential oils. Our premium grade organic extra virgin olive oil penetrates deep into the skin, providing needed moisturizing as well as a shield to protect the skin, keeping it smooth, and due to its high level of antioxidants A & E, it can repair skin damage from sun exposure, cigarette smoke and pollutants.
Almond oil is acquired from dried almonds through a process called cold pressing. The good thing about using this skin care product is the benefits derived from its vitamins such as E, A and D. It is also rich in oleic and linoleic acids. It is mostly used as a skin care product but is also used as a medicinal oil for some skin disorders. Almonds have a way of trapping moisture in the skin keeping it moisturized at all times. Better still, its high lubricating quality makes many users stick to using it as their daily skin care product. Emollient properties refer to the ability of the almond oil to get absorbed into your skin. It is also used in many spas for its less fragrant and less greasy qualities. It is also useful in massages as it restores the normal PH of the skin and allows the skin to glow thus preserving moisture.
Known mostly for its conditioning properties, beeswax also has a number of other benefits for the skin, including an anti-inflammatory action that helps to calm and soothe. When applied to the skin, beeswax forms a protective barrier that helps protect it from environmental assaults, while also holding in moisture and reducing dryness. This is one of the reasons beeswax is often used in lip balms. Unlike ingredients made from petroleum, however, beeswax doesn't “suffocate” the skin, and won't clog pores. Some ingredients “attract” water, and beeswax is one of them. When you put it on, you attract water molecules, helping to keep skin hydrated over time. Beeswax is an overall wonderful ingredient for lip balms.
Tocopherol is the organic chemical compound of vitamin E and is an antioxidant and cellular renewal ingredient.
Cloudberries are wild berries that grow all over Finland, but are most abundant in boggy areas around the Arctic Circle. Because of its ability to survive temperatures of -40° F, the Cloudberry is one of the few flowering plants to have spread to the farthest north. Its geographical location, with nights that are significantly colder than the days, enables Cloudberries to produce twice as much vitamin C as oranges. Cloudberry Seed oil contains large amounts of linoleic and alpha-linoleic acid (omega 6 & omega 3), vitamins A and E, and plant sterols. It strengthens skin, prevents aging and due to its antioxidant effects, protects skin from external factors. Moreover, the detoxification properties of Cloudberry Seed oil help to make the skin look brighter and more radiant. The benefits of Cloudberry seed oil have been studied in numerous independent cosmetic labs. It has been proven from investigations in independent labs in Finland to be one of the most effective antioxidants for preventing oxidation of the skins structure.
Steam distilled from the berries of the Juniper tree, this beautifully fragrant essential oil makes a great ingredient in skin care. Naturally astringent, Juniper essential oil is great for toning skin. It's particularly useful in body care products.
Cedar essential oil is extracted through the process of steam distillation from wood pieces of the cedar tree. Cedar essential oil aids in the treatment of eczema. It is also an antifungal and antibacterial in the treatment of skin, and has also been proven to be an effective mosquito repellant.
This oil is extracted through steam distillation of the leaves and branches of the Eucalyptus tree. Fragrant and fresh, this oil has naturally deodorant and expectorant properties. Eucalyptus is a scent that reminds us of renewal and new life to our senses.
Cold pressed from the rind of the Lemon, this bright oil has an uplifting, delightful aroma. Powerful in aromatherapy, Lemon essential oil calls to mind a feeling of cleanliness and refreshment. Used in body care products, it has been shown to brighten and tone dull skin.
Steam distilled from the freshly harvested leaves of the Lemon Verbena plant. This oil has been shown to possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In body care products, it is cleansing, degreasing and toning to the skin. In aromatherapy, it is calming and also helpful in regulating mental focus.
We recommend that you apply your Scandinavian Salves every day. Because of the heavy formulation only a small amount will be necessary. It may seem a little greasy when first applied, but it does readily soak into the skin, doing its job of quick healing. Smooth into skin, massage gently and enjoy your soft skin and great Nordic scent. Most people use the salves on the feet and elbows, but it works anywhere the skin needs a little extra help.
